M people - Hero

M people, search for a hero

Sometimes the river flows but nothing breathes A train arrives but never leaves, it's a shame Oh, life like love that's walked out of the door Of being rich or being poor, such a shame
But it's then, then that faith arrives To make your feelings alive And that's why, you should keep on aiming high Just seek yourself and you will shine
You've got to search for the hero inside yourself Search for the secrets you hide

Search for the hero inside yourself Until you find the key to your life
In this life, long and hard though it may seem Live it as you'd live a dream, aim so highly Just keep the flame of truth burning bright The missing treasure you must find
Because you and only you alone Can build a bridge across the stream Weave your spell in life's rich tapestry Your passport to a feeling supreme

You've got to search for the hero inside yourself Search for the secrets you hide Search for the hero inside yourself Until you find the key to your life You've got to search, inside yourself Deep, deep down inside yourself, yeah You've got to search, inside yourself You've got to search for the hero inside yourself Search for the secrets you hide Search for the hero inside yourself Until you find the key to your life

Search for the hero inside yourself Search for the secrets you hide Search for the hero inside yourself Until you find the key to your life You've got to search inside yourself You've got to search

….

This song is the first song that I can relate to beginning to think about becoming a nurse and considering what I wanted to do with life. It was way back before any diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome and I first remember it as being the theme tune for pride of Britain. [or something involved in that show.]  and I remember thinking,  want to do something that will make a different.

Now by no means do I consider myself a hero, far from it by any means, but that doesn’t stop me from aiming high and aiming to be the best I can be.  Because after all that’s all you can be, the best, nothing more nothing less!

When I’ve had a bad day, or things are just getting me down and play this song and it gives me a little bit of self-confidence and motive to carry on, and search for that little hero, to try and make a little difference.
